Pixavi introduced an explosion-proof version of the Xcaster 5000 HD camera series. The rugged camera is certified for Zone 1 both for ATEX (Europe) and IECEx (international). Pixavi has applied its advanced intrinsically safe camera technology to enable communication from any Zone 1 or Zone 2 environment on an international level.

What’s it for? Well, monitoring in chemical plants, oil and gas platforms, shipyards, mines and other environments requiring strictly certified electronic equipment where blasts can occur! While a HomeAV integrator is unlikely to be integrating in any of these places, you might also consider this for apartment buildings or heavy-duty security systems you’re doing.
The Xcaster EX5000 offers wireless audio, video and still image collaboration tool for Zone1 hazardous area and 802.11n, HD video as well as interoperability with HD endpoints like Tandberg, Polycom, Lifesize, Sony, Cisco, Skype and Radvision. The Xcaster can also stream live video to PC endpoints and players like VLC media player, Windows media player and Quicktime, hence requiring no extra software to receive the live HD video stream from the Xcaster.
