Pexip Releases Infinity Version 7

phpviDeaeAMOSLO, Norway — Oct. 30, 2014 — Pexip®, a leading innovator in scalable, distributed videoconferencing software, today announced the release of Pexip Infinity 7. This release has been designed to enhance and simplify users’ engagement in visual meetings regardless of device, technology, or videoconferencing environment.

Pexip Infinity 7 continues the Pexip promise by enhancing the user experience for conferences that include both Microsoft® Lync® and legacy video users. In addition, with the release of the Infinity Connect software clients and improved access options for participants, Pexip has made the market’s simplest solution for virtual face-to-face communications even easier to use.

“With Pexip Infinity 7, we’re taking virtual conferencing to a new level,” said Simen Teigre, Pexip CEO. “Users can now collaborate on shared content and see participants at the same time, drag-and-drop contacts during calls, and include more users due to our firewall-friendly technology — all while providing the best meeting experience for all users and making virtual meetings as easy as picking up the phone. But that’s not all, we’re also bringing users an all-new suite of client software, making our latest release the company’s most exciting to date.”

Determined to preserve the Microsoft Lync user experience, Pexip Infinity 7 has been engineered to enable video transmissions using firewall-friendly media-over-TCP technology, as well as drag-and-drop functionality to enable ad-hoc escalation of legacy video users into Lync meetings, letting users easily manage calls without leaving the comfort of their current Lync environment. Furthermore, Pexip Infinity 7 provides a feature preview of the industry’s first and only bidirectional simultaneous multiparty HD video and screen sharing — allowing virtual collaborators to share content and see participants at the same time. Also compatible with all major Web browsers for virtual meetings, enterprises gain the ability to share and collaborate across virtually any technology, device, and platform.

With the introduction of the all-new Infinity Connect suite of clients, Pexip is adding yet another simple way to join Infinity virtual meeting rooms (VMRs) and make point-to-point calls. Installable on Windows®, OS X®, and Linux® environments, and supported natively in WebRTC-enabled Web browsers such as Google Chrome™, Mozilla Firefox®, and Opera™ (with non-WebRTC browsers including Internet Explorer® and Apple® Safari®, which is coming soon but now provided as a feature preview), the clients deliver core features such as presentation sharing, roster, conference controls, the ability to add/disconnect participants, and more. Meeting organizers just simply send a link to participants in order to connect in real time, allowing any user to collaborate using assets that are already at their fingertips.

Pexip Infinity 7 also adds a whole range of new features that are aimed at the administrator, but benefit the user. New firewall traversal features enable Pexip Conferencing Nodes to be deployed in a public DMZ or behind a NAT firewall. Additionally, Pexip Infinity 7 supports media latching, and the new automatic media overflow feature enables more users to seamlessly connect to the same Pexip VMR.

Pexip Infinity is the industry’s most modern any-to-any video, audio, and Web conferencing infrastructure. It runs as one or many virtualized machines in a user’s data center, in a public or private cloud, or as a hybrid deployment. It is the industry’s only truly distributed, scalable meeting platform.

Pexip Infinity 7 is now available worldwide. For more information, or a free test drive, please visit www.pexip.com.
