Pexip Powers MyCareManager, Telstra Health’s First Integrated eHealth Solution

pexip-0613OSLO, Norway — June 24, 2015 — Pexip®, a leading innovator in scalable, distributed videoconferencing software, today announced that its Infinity videoconferencing platform is powering Telstra Health’s MyCareManager. Recently launched in Australia, the integrated eHealth solution supports disability, community, and residential age care providers to deliver efficient quality care from a distance. Powered by the Pexip Infinity platform, the solution leverages tools such as videoconferencing to provide clients with an intuitive face-to-face experience.

“Given the increase in demand for aged care and disability services as well as the workforce shortages in the sector, service providers are forced to look at more efficient models of service delivery,” said Thilan Perera, MyCareManager general manager. “To address this problem and to bridge the communication gap between service providers, clients, and their family members, we developed the MyCareManager solution. MyCareManager keeps clients and care providers connected with each other throughout the entire recovery process via easy-to-use online tools. The care team can use the platform to remotely manage medication administration, wound management, and monitor chronic conditions to help delay consumers’ entry into costly institutionalized care and avert unwanted hospital admissions.”

Developed by Telstra Health, MyCareManager is an all-in-one solution, which provides videoconferencing, remote monitoring, and an information-sharing platform to clients, family members, and health care providers to promote transparency and collaboration in the treatment and monitoring of illnesses or injuries. Available through an online portal, the solution enables innovative telemonitoring capabilities via both Bluetooth® enabled health devices and video conferencing applications. As a result, caregivers are able to better collaborate with clinic-based specialists, more effectively manage chronic disease, and reduce travel while helping clients manage their care within the safety of their own homes.

“When we evaluated the various videoconferencing platforms available, we considered several critical requirements,” added Perera. “First, we needed a guarantee that all data transfers would remain within Australia. Also, the solution had to be compatible with WebRTC and integrate easily within our existing infrastructure. It had to be easy to install, simple to use, and cost-effective to deploy and maintain. Finally, it had to be interoperable with other UC technologies to allow our customers to leverage their existing investments. After a thorough review process, it was clear that the Pexip Infinity platform delivered on all of these requirements and more.”

Using Pexip Infinity’s videoconferencing capabilities, MyCareManager is able to deliver a seamless visual communications experience via both WebRTC and proprietary platforms such as Cisco® and Microsoft Lync® or Skype™ for Business by leveraging existing technology infrastructures and investments. Purely software-based, Infinity uses existing on-premise and cloud architectures to deliver video, audio, and data sharing applications that meet Telstra Health’s requirements of being easy to install and deploy, operate and maintain, and, most importantly use. Designed for face-to-face communications that bring together solutions like Skype, traditional videoconferencing platforms, or simple Web browser-based video endpoints, the Infinity platform completely revolutionizes the way users virtually meet on any fixed endpoint or portable device.

“Healthcare service providers are continuously looking for ways to maintain or increase their already extremely high levels of quality patient care, as well as opportunities to reduce their costs of operations,” said Simen Teigre, CEO and Co-founder of Pexip. “By providing increased flexibility, a practically instant deployment process, and intuitive user functionalities, our software-based Infinity videoconferencing platform is perfectly positioned to help Telstra Health evolve the way healthcare providers care for remote patients. As the eHealth trend continues to grow, we look forward to playing our part in facilitating the way people engage with care providers.”
