Peerless-AV Appoints Jon Schmitz to Corporate Director of Quality & Supplier Management

peerlessavAurora, IL, March 4, 2014: Peerless-AV, a leading manufacturer and supplier of AV equipment, today announced the promotion of Jon Schmitz to Corporate Director of Quality & Supplier Management, effective immediately.
In this role, Schmitz will be working with various departments in the United States, Mexico and United Kingdom to certify that operations at all facilities are consistent and common in both their use and structure, meeting a global quality system standard set forth by Peerless-AV. These operations include order placement, product design, AV equipment and component manufacturing, procurement and assurance of outside materials and shipment to customers.
Additionally, Schmitz will focus on supplier management, ensuring that Peerless-AV’s processes used to select, evaluate and measure vendors and partners are consistent across the board. He will also oversee the delivery of key corporate opportunities to each site location, resulting in continued global business success. Another part of Schmitz’s job will be to confirm that vital business relationships requiring contracts with suppliers are executed properly.

As part of its manufacturing and testing process, Peerless-AV works to ensure all of its products meet the exacting standards put in place by the company. High-quality materials are specifically chosen, which result in products that offer easy installation, improved durability, and better aesthetics for its customers.

Schmitz has been employed by Peerless-AV for nine-and-a-half years. He most recently served as Quality Assurance Director, a position he has held for the past seven years. In this role, he lead and made sure that Peerless-AV’s quality system in its Aurora location was maintained and used correctly, that the company’s ISO listing was upheld, and that employees were trained properly and well versed in the use of the Quality Management System.
Prior to that, Schmitz’s positions at Peerless-AV included Quality Manager, Quality Director and Corporate Quality and Supplier Management Director. In his 25 years of experience, Schmitz has served as Quality Manager at Nu-Way Industries; Vendor Manager, Supply Chain Networks and Quality Assurance Manager, Switching Solutions at Lucent Technologies; QA Manager at Serv-All Die & Tool Company; and Corporate Quality and Supplier Manager at Allsteel.
In addition to his AV equipment quality assurance work at Peerless-AV, Schmitz is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), volunteers for the Little Angels organization out of Elgin, IL and supports several of his church’s projects for the less fortunate. He earned an associate degree in business from Waubonsee Community College and has taken several classes in project management, strategic planning, lean manufacturing, six sigma, statistical methods and supplier management.
