Jazz Guitarist Nobuki Takamen Plays With Sommer Cable
New York City, August 2017 – Jazz guitar favorite Nobuki Takamen has embraced Sommer Cable’s new SC Spirit LLX, designed specifically for guitar. “This is truly the best guitar cable I’ve ever used,” says Takamen about the extremely low capacitance and optimum flexibility of the new cable.
Guitarist/composer Nobuki Takamen was born in Hiroshima, Japan. Jazz historian Scott Yanow describes him as “an excellent improviser in his own bop-inspired style.” John Heidt of Vintage Guitar Magazine has called him “a mature player with keen sense of composition and considerable technical skill.”
A mainstay of the New York jazz scene, Takamen has toured with his group in North America and Europe, performing at some of the top international jazz festivals and clubs, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, Blue Note NY, Iridium Jazz Club, Blues Alley and Smalls Jazz Club. He has also opened for the Blues Brothers and has toured annually throughout Japan since 2004.
“I have been using Sommer cable for my live performances as well as my recordings,” Takamen explains. “As I use my guitar and amp to obtain a nice clean tone, this new Sommer cable has been an integral part of my sound. I just love the sound that I can get with Sommer cable.”
Sommer’s SC Spirit LLX utilizes the same insulation design as is used in professional HD-SD video cables. For extra stability of the inner construction, Sommer uses an optimized concentric litz stranding and special insulation curing on the surface. For the outer jacket Sommer uses a rubberlike soft PVC jacket, which is highly flexible and compact, with minimal stretch and added protection from exterior impact.
“Live in Japan” is Takamen’s sixth album, a two disc set recorded with Sommer Cable and featuring Toshiyuki Tanahashi on bass and Naoki Aikawa on drums.
