rAVe Scoop: InfoComm Chair Supposedly Caught in Corruption Sweep

I have known Jay and Advanced AV for years. Jay is one of those guys who not only cares deeply about his employees, but he also has a great love for this industry. In fact, he's given four years of his professional life to InfoComm as a volunteer on the InfoComm Executive Committee.

We are an opinionated eNewsletter, and I am going to give you MY opinion about this: This is NOT right. I am confident that Jay does NOT deserve this! I know the entire story here and, although I'm not allowed to tell it yet, he is getting shafted - yes, shafted. I will eventually tell you the real story behind what happened to Jay - after the legal maneuvering is finished - but he does NOT deserve this AT ALL. Remember I said that. Trust me, when you hear the entire story, you'll totally agree he's getting SHAFTED.

We need to stand behind Jay (and Advanced AV) and SHOW HIM YOUR SUPPORT!

Jay Armand, chair of the InfoComm Board of Governors and president and COO of Advanced Audio Visual of Pennsylvania, was one of five contractors who, according to reports, have pled guilty to one count each of alleged commercial bribery crossing state lines. The incident reportedly involves the construction of a library at Princeton University and activities conducted in 2005 - 2006 (source: http://www.nj.com/news/times/index.ssf?/base/news-4/121497159993810.xml&coll=5&thispage=1)

"I have pled guilty to a bribery offense and we are awaiting sentencing, so anything I say at this point could impact the sentencing," Armand said in an exclusive rAVe Interview. "But any such activities are not reflective of my company and the way we do and have done business, nor is it reflective of this fine industry we are in. Once the legalities are finalized I will look forward to a more open discussion."

rAVe will have an exclusive follow-up with Armand after the dust has settled. Stay tuned.

rAVe also received this statement from InfoComm:
"InfoComm International strongly values professional integrity and we find the news surprising and disappointing. InfoComm does not know the facts about this situation more than what is in published reports."
