CEDIA 2016 Show Beats 2015 and Buzz Is Positive for HomeAV Market

epson-cedia-0916CEDIA 2016 attendance topped just over 18,750 attendees this year – and it beat the 2015 show by 50 attendees (a measurable feat considering the show was in the exact same place two years in a row). The 2016 show, hosted in Dallas, was an energized showcase of big thinking that included over 500 exhibitors, 115 CEDIA training sessions, 13 CEDIA Talks, 6 free CEDIA Panel Sessions, and several events that provided attendees an opportunity to think big for the future of their business.

“This CEDIA was the best CEDIA for me because it almost felt like my first show. I was really able to get out of my comfort zone and experience all the great lines and vendors that are featured on the floor and I was so glad I did. I met a lot of great people and really embraced the direction that the industry is heading. In the past years, it has felt like there was more of a fear of the future in the air. This year, I felt like myself, as well as the other integrators, were able to really grasp the vision of technology and you could feel the excitement and anticipation surrounding our industry,” said Todd Anthony Puma, Owner of The Source Home Theater.

2016 exhibitors also picked up on the positive outlook of the industry and saw CEDIA 2016 as an important and necessary connection point to talk with their stakeholders, ask for feedback on new offerings, and build new relationships.

“Being at CEDIA has more than tripled the size of our integrator base just over this last year. Getting to talk to the community that we work with on a daily basis and new companies that we are anxious to work with is a highlight of our year,” said Meg Dolan, Special Ops for Comcast Cable.

“CEDIA has once again made clear its commitment to Home Technology Professionals, and the channel it serves. The show in Dallas exceeded our expectations as a vendor in terms of attendance, opportunities for networking and learning, and the overall positive outlook on where the industry is headed,” said Josh Willits, VP of Dealer Happiness at Portal.

“CEDIA provides the ideal launch pad and audience for residential technologies and we are simply thrilled to be part of this dynamic organization. If we hadn’t launched Phantom HALR at CEDIA, we wouldn’t have gotten the insightful and extremely beneficial feedback we did that will help shape our future product developments. Based on the overwhelming success of this year’s show, we’re already planning BIG things for CEDIA 2017 in San Diego,” said Shannon Townley, CEO of Stewart Filmscreen.

CEDIA 2016 included over 100 first time exhibitors who were also energized by the opportunity to connect with attendees.

“This was our first time at CEDIA and it exceeded our wildest expectations from the steady traffic at our booth to the incredible exposure we got from the tech press. There is such a spirit of cooperation in this community, we’ve felt so welcomed and we’ve been so encouraged by the conversations we’ve had,” said Reid Slaughter, VP of Marketing at Modulus Media Systems.
Chris Martin, Assistant Communications Manager of Mercedes Benz Vans USA agreed that as a first time exhibitor they received a warm welcome “This is definitely a key market for us. We had great chance to introduce people to our brand and products and we are leaving the show with high quality leads.”

Other key highlights from CEDIA 2016 included: the presentation of the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. Chang K. Park of URC, the Opening Keynote presented by Shelly Palmer, the CEDIA Celebration which honored the 2016 Home Technology Professional Award Winners, the unveiling of CEDIA research findings and Houzz consumer research findings, and the Friday Morning Keynote presented by Amazon Director of Alexa Smart Home Charlie Kindel.

“The passion and energy in our industry has never been more evident. I would like to thank all our exhibitors, attendees, volunteers and staff for another successful year in Dallas.” said Vin Bruno, CEDIA CEO.
