Shanghai, China, 16 June 2015 – Barco, a global leader in medical imaging, announces the successful debut of its 12,000,000-pixel Coronis UnitiTM display system at the 73rd spring China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF), that held in Shanghai May, 2015. Barco also introduced its brand-new system along with a full range of LED medical displays, and many other industry-leading medical solutions, acquainting China’s medical industry with the latest technologies and solutions.

The first diagnostic display system designed for both PACS and mammography imaging

Relying on its nearly thirty years of professional experience in medical imaging, Barco has created the first diagnostic display system that specifically designed iso explicitly for both PACS and mammography imaging. The 12MP Coronis UnitiTM display system, which the company demonstrated at CMEF, supports PACS, mammography, color and grayscale, 2D and 3D, and static and dynamic images. With its unique RapidFrame™ technology, which ensures high definition and the ability to focus images in motion, and its innovative multi-contact-point trackpad control, the system significantly heightens reading efficiency and improves the ergonomic experience.

Greater image capacity and many advanced functions

The 12-megapixel color display provides the highest resolution currently available on the medical imaging market. In order to meet the DICOM standard for grayscale images and to ensure color consistency, Barco has equipped the display with its revolutionary SteadyColor™ calibration technology. The display has also been endowed with many advanced functions such as Color Per Pixel Uniformity™ to reduce screen noise, Ambient Light Compensation™ to ensure perfect image quality in any lighting environment, and MediCal QAWeb™ for automatic calibration and Quality Assurance to ensure optimal performance without interruptions.

Perfect ergonomic experience

According to a MarkeTech study, at least 87 percent of radiologists suffer tired eyes and a sore back when reading medical images. To solve this problem, Barco designed Coronis UnitiTM with special attention to ergonomics. Using research on the human body’s natural visual processing, the system minimizes movement of the head and eyes when reading images. The system’s built-in SoftGlow™ wall light can brighten the radiology reading room to the desired level, and its SoftGlow™ task light can illuminate paper, raising image definition and making reading more comfortable. In addition, the system can be used as a virtual lightbox to compare the current exam with those of previous films using a convenient film clip.
