Barco announces new version of its networked visualization system for faster response times and better decision-making

barco-logoKortrijk, Belgium, 12 June 2013 – Barco, a global leader in advanced visualization solutions, will announce a new version of its networked visualization system – including both Barco’s CMS (control room management software) and the TransForm N family of networked controllers – at InfoComm 2013. New features and hardware components result in major security, synchronization, performance and applicability improvements. The new version provides governments and companies with an even smarter solution for collaboration, enabling them to distribute any visual information to any location.

For many years now, Barco’s networked visualization system has been the reference critical information distribution system for the complete organization, providing the most reliable and smart way to distribute information to and within control rooms. Using secure IP technology to transport any information to any location, the system unites flexibility, performance and usability in one solution. Furthermore, the system’s modular and hot-swappable structure – allowing upgrades and performance scalability by simply adding additional hardware – makes it absolutely future-safe. The new version of Barco’s networked visualization system will further boost operational efficiency, enabling even faster and smarter decision-making.

Highly reliable control room software just got even better

The culmination of seven years of experience, customer feedback, and continual development, the new 2.5 release of Barco’s CMS is the most reliable and mature control room management software suite on the market today. With thousands of proven installations, CMS is lauded for its rich features, user-friendliness, and deep understanding of operators’ needs.

Not only does CMS 2.5 offer maximum IP camera compatibility and use case flexibility, it also enters into a new dimension thanks to the expansion of its application management. With the new software, users can set up application-based viewing scenarios including start/stop, layout management and default application positioning on the video wall. Compared with competitive solutions – which require several operator interaction steps to achieve the same result – CMS 2.5 makes control rooms substantially more efficient and facilitates faster decision-making. After needs analysis, Barco’s certified integrator community can provide even more value by implementing the most appropriate automation scenarios.

An additional boost in hardware performance

Barco is also releasing the third generation of TransForm N, its hardware acceleration platform for data distribution over IP, rendering, and composition at the display endpoints. New in this 2.5 release are the TransForm N 1-Channel DVI-Input Node, the TransForm N 2-Channel Output Node, and the new TransForm N Application Node. The new input node provides ultra-high resolution, high frame rate, low latency and secure data transport to ensure that no critical information is lost and to allow fast and accurate interaction with critical back-end systems. The TransForm N 2-Channel Output Node is very quiet and compact, so that it can be integrated with the display to create a true ‘networked display’.

“CMS 2.5 and TransForm N 2.5 are new steps forward for Barco’s networked visualization system,” says Andreas Friedrichsen, Product Manager at Barco. “Our dramatically enhanced software and third-generation nodes provide even more power to the complete solution, enabling distribution of the most demanding data, video and image streams. This new generation will add significant value to both new networked visualization systems and the installed base.”

Barco’s new generation networked visualization solution will be publicly showcased for the first time at InfoComm, Hall A, booth #2543, from 12 to 14 June in Orlando, Florida.
