AV Power Up! – Episode IV: A New Hope – The NAB Show

Power-Up-rAVe-Category2Welcome to the IVth episode of The AV Power Up! Show, where we dedicate the whole podcast to the #1 trade show for the broadcast industry — NAB in Las Vegas!

Along with your regular hosts Christa (@AVChrista) Bender, Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Stacy (@Vaddio_Stacy) Kringlen and Hope (@BeerAndPie) Roth we have calling in:

  • Bruce MacLelland of Applied Video Technology
  • Thom Calabro of Fujinon (Div. of FUJIFILM)
  • Devan Cress of Marshall Electronics
  • Achim Gleissner of Sennheiser Corp.
  • Craig Tepke of Video Corporation of America (VCA)

Along with the call-ins, we discuss several news stories from the show as well as other show related stuff (we covered for you on this one, Johnny).

Wait — Stacy is back! So is Hope! Did you miss them? Did we really have no hope? It was truly touch and go, and we were even able to capture this conversation:

AV Power Up (we believe to be Chuck): Uh, everything’s under control. Situation normal.

Voice on intercom: What happened?

AVP: Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh… everything’s perfectly all right now. We’re fine. We’re all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

Voice: We’re sending up a squad.

AVP: Uh, uh… negative, negative. We had a reactor leak here now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down. Large leak, very dangerous.

Voice: What’s your operating number?

AVP: Uh… [Shoots the intercom]

Boring conversation anyway. HOPE WE’RE GONNA HAVE COMPANY!

(Dedicated to the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), all you Star Wars fans and of course our own Johnny “Double Awesome” Mota).

Hope also goes all Leia on us with her new “Sipping From the Trunk” segment (and a mini-commentary on the Bosox game) and Chuck throws in a Power Up on industry certification.

What now? What do you think? Tune in for some of the best of what the broadcast industry has to offer, as well as the Power Crew…

Power Up!
