Sunil Patel has worked in the Audiovisual industry for over 20 years. He is the director of Leviathan Systems which provide systems integrations all over India.

Please drop your questions in the comments below and i will make sure that he sees them.

1.Describe your journey in the AV industry? How did it start?

We started with selling Intellimedia LCD panels – the lcd panels with built in computers. We got into systems integration when the ICICI boardroom project came up with requirements for automation.

2.What do you think is the challenges that are facing a new person who wants to join the industry.

The need to know a lot of different technologies and also the experience of working with designers and contractors in a harsh construction environment. The ability to manage this complexity takes time and resolve.

3.What are the positives of working in this industry?

It is still a niche industry. So experienced people can hold value. Also, it is technologically challenging and interesting. The exhilaration of experiencing audio, video, and automation on a continuing basis keeps people addicted to the business.

4.What in your opinion would you change in the industry? What are the negatives that are prevalent ?

Unhealthy business and competitive practices is probably top in the list. Mire Manufacturer ownership in servicing clients, disparate needs and handholding integrators would be another important to improve.

5.Describe your ideal client? What do you wish clients to know before hiring you.

Clients who aspire to create experiences and who allow the design and budget freedom to create them.

6.If you were going to start over, what would you do differently ?

Our experiences are what have made us. So tough to imaging how it could have happened differently. But if we started with good funding, investing in good people and establishing business processes would be top priority.

7.Describe a typical work day for you. What are your daily disciplines?

Clients, project execution commitments, service and sales. These are the daily review items.
