Share Article Back to Top SpeakerCraft to Still Host "Shots in the Dark" at Expo SpeakerCraft will co-host CEDIA’s tradition of after hours shots with Sam and Lori Runco. In partnership with Monster Cable, SpeakerCraft will co-host the celebration Friday, September 9, 2011, between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. in the Cosmopolitan Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis.
Since the dawn of CEDIA, immediately following the awards banquet, Runco had routinely hosted shots for everyone who attended CEDIA Expo. This year however, with the show ending Saturday instead of Sunday, “Shots in the Dark” will be held on Friday, the day before the banquet, which is still scheduled for its traditional Saturday night.
Jeremy Burkhardt, president of SpeakerCraft said, “We want to make sure the tradition lives on, long after the sale of Runco took place. With Expo 2011 ending a day early, we were concerned that many people would leave town and miss the fun. With that in mind, we decided to host the party Friday night instead. By doing this, dealers are sure to have a good time at the show. This celebration is just one way we want to show our appreciation for our dealers hard work and support.”
Shots in the Dark is open to everyone who attends Expo 2011. Registration for this event is mandatory and can be done by visiting the event website prior to the CEDIA show http://www.monstercable.com/shotsinthedark/shotsemail.html Leave a Comment
Share Article Back to Top Citigroup and Sungevity Create Fund for Residential Solar Projects Sungevity, a solar panel manufacturer, just announced a renewable energy tax equity fund with Citigroup Inc. that will support over $50 million of new residential solar lease projects. Citi's commitment comes on the heels of tremendous growth and momentum for Sungevity. In late July, the company formally announced its expansion to the east coast with the "Rooftop Revolution" marketing campaign and in May, Sungevity announced a significant new partnership with Lowe's, the world's second largest home improvement retailer. Since 2010, the company has raised funds to support more than $120 million in residential solar projects, and has become one of the fastest growing solar companies in the country with a presence in eight states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.
So, shouldn't we, as integrators, consider adding solar power as an option to our projects? Sungevity has a cool iQuote sales process that's truly a new and easy, efficient means to residential solar adoption. This hassle-free technology enables the use of satellite images and aerial photography to assess customers' roofs remotely and accurately determine the feasibility of future solar installations without a home visit, saving customers time and money. This innovative process creates a convenient and efficient process for providing binding formal proposals.

Share Article Back to Top Silicon Image Intros New Family of Video Chips Silicon Image just announced its new family of cineramIC video processing IP cores, ranging from scalers and deinterlacers to video enhancement solutions such as noise reduction and edge enhancement. These IP cores are targeted for integration into digital video system-on-chip (SoC) designs to deliver optimal image quality for consumer electronics (CE), professional video processing, surveillance and medical imaging devices. As you may know, Silicon Image’s new cineramIC video processing IP cores can be used in a variety of products where video and digital image enhancement is required. Adaptive scaling and deinterlacing IP cores modify the format of the video stream to compensate for differing video content formats and display resolutions. In many HD applications, low resolution compressed video must be decompressed and scaled up to the higher resolutions of today’s DTVs and displays. This can create noticeable image artifacts such as undesirable jagged edges on shapes and halos around text. Silicon Image’s video smoothing, detail and edge enhancement and mosquito noise technology help reduce the artifacts created by digital video scaling and compression.

Share Article Back to Top DPI to Unveil 1080p in 2:35 Aspect Ratio at CEDIA Digital Projection International (DPI) will launch the dVision Scope 1080p, a native 2:35:1 DLP projector delivering over 2.75 million pixels of imagery when scope HD content is displayed. The 2560×1080 dVision Scope delivers a true 1080p solution for 2:35 aspect content without optical stretching, and without the need for an anamorphic lens solution. No anamorphic optics are required when the dVision Scope 1080p projector is employed in a constant height application. When 1.78 content is being viewed, that content is simply displayed by the projector at native 1080p resolution. When wider aspect ratio content is presented, the wider content continues to be displayed at 1080 pixels of vertical resolution, so the vertical height of the image is maintained. Horizontally, the image is re-sized to as much as 2560 pixels, depending on the aspect ratio of the source being displayed. The projector’s aspect ratio is thus adjusted so that the wider content is presented with increased horizontal resolution (beyond the 1920 horizontal pixels associated with 1080p content). Specifically, when scope content is presented, the projector automatically detects the presence of the “letterbox” black bars within the signal, and immediately re-sizes the image to fill the height of the DMD (1080p) while also presenting the proper aspect ratio by increasing the horizontal pixels employed.
Lenses are available for throw ratios as short as .8:1 and as long as 4.5:1. and when they announce it, it will be here on the website: http://www.digitalprojection.com/BrowseProjectors/SeriesList/ProjectorList/tabid/86/SeriesId/3/MarketTypeId/11/Default.aspx Leave a Comment
Share Article Back to Top Runco's Green LED Projector Runco's newest LED projector uses 70 percent less power than its current model DLP projectors by using LED lighting. The $10,000 Q-650i is a native 1080p projector that includes HDMI, DVI and VGA ports and includes a 1.85-2.4:1 zoom lens. It is, however, only 450 lumens. So, if you're a eco-friendly guy, this projector will work out well in your home theater. You'll have to use this in a black room and with the lights totally off… and we also recommend unplugging the night-light.

Both the TX-NR5009 and TX-NR3009 have eight HDMI inputs and two outputs, plus a full range of legacy analog and digital AV connections. New media connections include an Ethernet port, two USB ports, a universal port for Onkyo peripheral devices, and an RGB input for video content from a connected PC. Onkyo also offers an optional UWF-1 wireless LAN adaptor that turns the front panel USB port into a home Internet access point. Users can also download and install free applications that turn their Android or iPod Touch/iPhone into a full-function remote control to control the receiver. Both receivers are designed to connect to the new generation of user-customized Internet radio stations and streaming music services, including those from Spotify, AUPEO!, Pandora, Last.fm, Rhapsody, Napster, Mediafly, Slacker, Sirius XM and vTuner. The receiver is also DLNA 1.5 certified; it can interface with USB-compatible portable music devices, such as iPods, and and play music straight off a USB thumb drive. The unit can handle a wide variety of audio formats, including FLAC, WMA Lossless, WAV, AAC, Ogg, MP3 and for audiophiles, Super Audio CD.
Onkyo’s TX-NR3009 uses 24-bit TI Burr-Brown DACs for each channel and a high-current power supply with large 18,000 µF capacitors and a large EI transformer.
The TX-NR5009's amplifier takes the whole issue of amplifier and power supply performance up a notch.
