The past week has been a roller coaster for me. My youngest daughter attends Pepperdine University in Southern California, only a few miles from where there was a mass shooting at a college bar night, and that has been beset by the deadliest wildfires in California history. The campus leadership and community have been great at communicating with us, and my daughter is now safely back in North Carolina until after Thanksgiving. But to say it’s been nerve-wracking has been an understatement.
The outreach from the AV community of #AVtweeps (a hashtag moniker coined by our very own Johnny Mota) has been unbelievable. I have received so many messages from all of you checking in on my daughter. It’s just one of many reasons why I love the AV community and will never leave it.
It’s safe to say most of us in AV work in it not just because we like our jobs, but because we love the people we work with. I am surrounded in my very own office by amazing, emotionally intelligent and cool AV geeks and an extended family of #AVtweeps that care about all this stuff. Thank you so much.
