Although August is thought to be an easy month for educators — and, in some circles, considered a vacation month — the truth is August is do-or-die on nearly every campus in the world. When students return, the classrooms MUST work. If not, in today’s connected-culture, it could be considered catastrophic — just ask any teenager; most can’t imagine life without Wi-Fi or data. But, for teachers, it’s ditto. Nearly all rooms are integrated with AV — and most are not connected to the network in one form or another, and an outage can be disastrous. This months’ column by education guru Scot Tiner spells out why.
And, check out this issue for new ed-specific AV gear like projectors from Optoma, a killer portable PA system from Bose Pro and a totally-cool motorized collaboration cart from Peerless-AV. I’d also like to draw your attention to this month’s ad from Extron — featuring their latest design guide on collaboration.
Enjoy that summer break while it lasts! (Or if you’re a parent, thank goodness school is almost here.)
